Our Home
We are building a home for orphaned children.
Already for the fourth year the Jewish orphans from all over the country who entered our Boarding-school huddle together in a small two-level apartment in the very center of the city without even its own courtyard. They are forced to live, study and rest in very small rooms, six-eight children in each. Such conditions don't satisfy the elementary requirements of keeping in a children institution. Now, our children finally have hope.
Our Orphanage
The Passin-Waxman Center has been in existence since 18 June 1999 as part of the Moscow Jewish community. Founded under the patronage of the Chief Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldschmidt, with the support of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish community of Moscow, an American charitable foundation, and the British charitable organization UJIA under the leadership of Anita Waxman, the Jewish home for orphaned children has assumed a very difficult but honorable mission. It is to help Jewish children, left without shelter and a parent's caress, start a new life. Our home not only provides children with a roof over their heads and the minimum required for elementary survival (food, clothing, education), but also creates for them conditions for development - cultural, psychological, intellectual and physical.
Our main goal is to give bereaved Jewish children a full life, founded on following of Jewish traditions, and to provide them with a wonderful upbringing and education. For more details about our Boarding-school please see the section "What are we doing for Jewish orphans?"
The main issues of functioning of our Boarding-school are decided by the Board of Trustees. It consists of 20 persons - local and foreign leaders of the Jewish organizations and famous philanthropists. The leader of the Board is its Chairman Dara Goldshmidt, the wife of the Chief Rabbi of Moscow.
How can you help
We will be happy for any help. Since expenses to maintain the Center are great and include many different items, you have the opportunity to choose the most acceptable option for yourself. In any case, you will receive detailed information on how your money was spent, and you will always be able to see with your own eyes the results of your help. Your good deed will not remain unnoticed. In the new building, we plan to place a plaque with the names of the people who donated funds for such a noble goal as helping orphaned Jewish children. We want the children themselves, and the Center's guests, to know the names of those thanks to whom Jewish orphans received a new, spacious home equipped with everything they need.
